1950's Christmas window decorations

I remember this, it was cute and easy to apply, as I recall you also needed to buy a package of thin cardboard stencils. My family used this in the 1970's and by then it was available in an spray can so it was easier to put on. It did smell a little when you put it on, but the big problem was that you had to scrape the window to get the stuff off, it dried really hard.

JOHN LEWIS CHRISTMAS COMMERCIALS 2008 and 2009

John Lewis is a string of department stores in Great Britain and although I have never visited them, I live in the United States, I look out for them every year since they are so sweet. This isn't a hard sell, just nice sentimental Christmas wishes.

1980 MILWAUKEE TV NEWS CHRISTMAS

Local stations still come out with some Christmas commercials with the news team but this commercial is pretty unique. For some 20 years the weatherman had a hand puppet sidekick called Albert the Alley Cat, he was extremely popular and is featured prominently in commercials. I grew up with this so it didn't seem odd, but looking back that's just odd. The new report would change from an murder or natural disaster to a cloth weather man joking around? Keep a look out for him in this Christmas commercial with the whole news team.

I'd like to buy the world a Coke

Coca-Cola created a Christmas classic in 1971 with their commercial set on hilltop with people of different cultures all singing about peace, harmony and Coca-Cola.  The song was created the an ad agency working for the beverage company after they were inspired by disgruntled travelers stranded at an airport who started to get along once they started talking to each other and drinking Coca-Cola. The song was also a big pop hit with references to the drink removed. The commercial is still aired every Christmas and is very much part of the season.

Lucy show dispute over natural versus flocked trees

One Lucy Show Christmas episode highlighted the contemporary fad of the flocked tree, cut trees were coated with white material to simulate snow or other other colors. Lucy wants a traditional evergreen while Viv goes for the more modern look, so they compromise and get both types, but trouble breaks out when they start decorating.

Christmas in Wisconsin

This isn't strictly television, but I live in Wisconsin and there aren't that many non-football songs dedicated to our state, especially not Christmas, so I thought I would share these 2 wonderful songs.

That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown

I don't like preachy Christmas special, but having Linus just simply quote the Bible was very effective and moving.

Even our name says Merry Christmas

I grew up in the 1970's and this was usually the earliest major brand Christmas commercial, it's so simple but it was a Christmas tradition and I looked forward to it every year.
